Life with COVID

Well here it is the middle of August already. Where has the time flown to ?? Daily living continues to be frantic. Everywhere you go you see people hurrying along with a face mask as they do there daily chores. We are both well. Our outings are walks with the dog and occasional rides to the park ( as long as it is not crowded) to let the dog have some exercise and us as well.

We walk with her each night in our neighborhood and try to keep our distance. This seems to be the new normal. Will it ever end ?? sigh !! I have made many masks for family and friends and others in need over the past several months.

My biggest accomplishment was a quilt for my favorite Aunt. She loves Betty Boop and I found fabric for her. The quilt came out well considering I am pretty much a novice quilter. She loved it when I gifted her with it.

Other than that I have been doing a lot of cooking what with all the fresh vegetables from our friends garden. My freezer is full of goodies.

Well I will leave you for now and hope you and yours are staying safe and well. Take care and thank you for stopping by.

Hello Everyone !!

It has been quite a while since my last post and a lot has changed. As most of you know I lost my husband in July, 2014 and figured that was it for me in the romance department, boy was I wrong. I volunteered to help a new neighbor with his eye drops after his cataract surgery and we really got on well together. I was not interested at that time but he was, and he chased me down and changed my mind. He is a wonderful and kind man and a romantic at heart. Who new that I would find romance at 70 !! We have now been married for two and a half years and I couldn’t be happier. We do everything together. And I am now a dog mom !! John has two Papillons when we married. Fancy is in the picture with us.

On the stitching front, things have been slow, we are never home and I have started to learn the ins and outs of quilting. I have been sewing for well over sixty years but never a quilter. I have to say I am enjoying it very much. I still do my needlework also, that will always be my first love. Here are a couple of my quilts.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in these trying times of ours. Our state is not in lock down but they are closing all non-essential businesses and advising everyone to stay home. John and I are both in our 70s but thankfully we are both pretty healthy, so we just keep our fingers crossed and pray for ourselves and everyone else.
Take care everyone , be safe and God bless !!
Thanks for stopping by !!

End of July, 2016

It is hard to believe that July is pretty much over. Between all the work being done on the house and my recent Cataract surgery, time has flown by. I now have a new roof, new windows and a new door. They are going to do some work in the bathroom this week, nothing dramatic, just things that need to be done. My poor mobile home is fifty years old and like me it has it's aches and pains. I am hoping with the new windows that my heating bill will be a lot not more comfortable in my wallet this winter.

I just love what they did with my stained glass window. My brother-in-law made it for my step father quite a while ago and the smashing on the outside was starting to rot. It now so lovely. They did a wonderful job of framing it and I have a double glazed window behind it.

This is what the other Windows look like. I love them. I used to have the ones that crank open, these are so much easier and I won't have to take down screens and put up storms every year. They even tilt for cleaning. So nice !!

My new door looks great also. They still have to do the trim but it looks good already.

My stitching has been very slow with my eyes but I am hoping now that the surgery is done that things in that area will improve.

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful day !!

July, 2016

I haven't been as faithful to blogging as I should, and I am sorry for that. I do enjoy reading everyone's blogs but time passes and I don't seem to remember to check them. It has been almost two years since I lost Rich and I miss him. Eventually I guess I will get involved in things again, he was my involvement when he was sick for so long. I feel lost without that purpose on a daily basis. Ok enough of the pity party.

My stitching has been sporadic at best. I did do some things for my niece for her wedding and some gifts for family . My trip to Texas was in March and I enjoyed spending time with my younger sister.

Wedding pillow , garters, and bridal bag !!
Tote bags for family

And of course there has to be a picture of the bride. I just love her gown !!

And my sister and her husband. I love this particular shot.

And of course the happy couple.

I am having work done on the house right now and will post those pictures another day. Thank you for listening to my moans and letting me share my family with you. Take care and have a nice day!!

Been Shopping !!

My girl friend and I went for a walk through Big Lots today just for the heck of it. Of course like many other stores, they have started to put out their Christmas items. Well !!  We found the animated stuffed animals, and we were bad. We had all of them going to see what they could do.  I found a lone penguin , pressed his button and lost it !! He is wonderfully funny. He sings a not so old fashioned carol and keeps beat to the music including a lot of boody action. I just had to have him. A silly impulsive purchase for sure. Not like me at all, I am not usually a shopper. But I love him  !! Here is a video of him, see what you think.

The video wouldn't work on here. Drat !! You would have been laughing !! Take care and have a great day !!

Here Again !.,

This year has flown by so fast that it is often hard to keep up. The biggest event is the most recent. Two days ago I became a great grandmother !! Yikes !! How did that happen !! Thursday morning at 7 AM, Ophelia Wren made her appearance into this world. She weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and is 20 inches long. Of course I think she is beautiful.

She is just a few hours old here

This one was taken today !!
I wish I lived closer so I could give her cuddles but my grand daughter sends me pictures and updates.

I will post tomorrow with my stitching. Thanks for looking.

February First !!

Today has been a quiet day. But yesterday was a good one. Charlie (my son) came over ad took me out to lunch. We went to Red Robin. We ate chatted and had a wonderful time together.

After I got home I just sat and relaxed and stitched. I started my Spring SAL for the Needlecraft Haven. It is a chart from Lizzie Kate and I am really enjoying it. A very relaxing stitch.

I also finished a scarf for my friend

Well I think that is all for today. Thank you for visiting and have a great day !!

January 2015 yikes !!

Well 2015 has snuck up on me and now January is almost over. It is hard to believe how fast time does go by. A lot has happened to me since Rich's death this past July. I still miss him and sometimes get down in the doldrums. I can hear him coming down the hallway only to turn and find no one there. I guess this is all normal and will eventually get better. I have been traveling. As you saw in my last post I went to Maryland to see family in August. In November I made a long trip to England to meet stitching friends of about 7-8 years. It was nice to finally see them in person after chatting with them for so long.clare and her husband offered their home to me while I was there and I had a wonderful time getting to know them both. They have a lovely home.

This a view from the garden. Clare and I roamed all over most days to see the sites. It is such a beautiful country. On Thursday we went o London for the day and saw Buckingham Place, Harrods,Big Ben and the Parlament building, the Eye of London, Tower Bridge, and the Tower of London. It was all breathtaking. During the afternoon we stopped at Knighsbridge Green Hotel for tea. So wonderful. Here we sat at 3in the afternoon drinking champagne, I felt like royalty.

Hanging in !!

It has been two months since Rich passed away. I won't say it has been easy. I miss him and look for him often to find him not there. I have been assured that this is normal , but it is still daunting. Several weeks ago I did make a trip by train to see my Father and Sister in Maryland. The Old Lady with cane in hand boarded a train and away we went. I hadn't been on a train in about fifty years. LOL  It was long, nine hours, but not bad. Amtrak was wonderful in how they helped me along. Kudos to them. I will definitely travel by them again. Anyway I had a great visit with my sister and her family and spent time with my dad. I hadn't been able to get to see him for the last five or six years. He turned 90 this year, I wanted to see him before he was gone. My family lives in the country in Western Maryland, in the mountains. Beautiful country. Here is some pictures of my dad's yard and of course him and I.

Dad and I , he looks great for his age.

This is the view out his picture window. The back of the house faces a meadow, only trees and woods as far as you can see.

This is the side yard and a picture of his grape arbor, it used to produced large dark purple grapes that he used to make wine and jellies from. It doesn't produce any longer.

This is my sister acting silly while doing the dishes.

We ended the evening around the fire pit making making s'mores, after playing in the swimming pool.
I was tired when I got home but a good tired. Rich would have enjoyed himself but he was unable to travel the last few years of his illness and I didn't feel good about leaving him home alone.

Thank you for visiting and I will try to post a little more regularly. Take care and have a great day !!

Sad day !!

Last night at 11:30, my friend, my husband, my love came to the end of his suffering and left this earth. He is now in a better place with no worries, care, or strife, he is at rest. I miss him now and will always miss him.we have only had seventeen years together. Not enough time to my way of thinking but we laughed a lot together. He was good to me and good to my mother and friends with my son. I wa his wife, friend, care giver, and bottle washer lol. (not to mention all the laundry)

Happy journey my love, be at peace !
